My first painting

I don’t think this was actually my first painting but in my core memories it is. I loved painting my rendition of Claude Monet’s “Le Grande Canal”. When I look at this piece it brings me back to our highschool art room; sitting on a wobbly stool and working on mixing and placing each brush stroke to try to capture the impresssionistic technique. Monet is one of my favourite painters. I love the Impressionism era because of the colours and movement.

Growing up my Grandparents had a large Monet waterlily print in their home and I remember being so enthralled by it. I would stare at it for hours looking at how the small brush strokes made the water look like it was moving and how the colours played amongst each other. Looking back now I was an artist then I just didn't know it.
